Knežica hit by severe hailstorms causing widespread damage

Severe storms characterized by heavy hail and strong winds struck the Potkozarje region in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically impacting Knežica near Kozarska Dubica and parts of Prijedor.

Witnesses reported hail the size of eggs, which caused significant destruction to residential roofs, auxiliary buildings, and vehicles. The storm has dealt a devastating blow to local agriculture, following a period of prolonged drought. Local journalist Dragan Maksimović described the scene as “cataclysmic,” noting that the impact has severely threatened the region's farming viability.

Igor Savković, the Mayor of Kozarska Dubica, announced that municipal commissions will begin assessing the damage on Monday, August 31. Residents who suffered losses to crops or property are urged to report them to the relevant municipal departments by September 4 to facilitate aid and recovery efforts.
