Balkans border crossings face traffic jams and travel bans during holiday season

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the holiday travel period and ongoing road works have created long vehicle queues at several border crossings, including Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Prisika and Osoje, with additional delays reported at Hum and Deleuša. Work on highways such as Lašva‑Vitez, the A‑1 Lašva‑Kakanj segment and other main roads has forced traffic onto alternate routes, prompting authorities to advise drivers to plan trips carefully, take frequent breaks and avoid long daytime journeys due to high temperatures.

At Serbia’s Preševo border crossing, a man from Belgrade was prevented from leaving the country after officials discovered an unpaid traffic fine of 3,000 dinars. His companion continued the trip alone, highlighting the practice of checking for outstanding fines or pending legal procedures before permitting border exit.
