Balkans health highlights: praised Croatia ER, Serbian child fund aid
In Pakrac, Croatia, father Stane Barun publicly thanked the staff of the General Hospital’s emergency department after his seven‑year‑old daughter Eva was treated for a swollen ankle on 26 July. Barun highlighted the swift triage, attentive medical technicians and the clear explanations provided by surgeons, calling the care exemplary.
In Serbia, the family of Andrija Knežević — a boy who received presidential support from Aleksandar Vučić for treatment of a rare vascular brain condition in Zurich — transferred the remaining 5.6 million dinars and €339.45 from the Humanitarian Fund “Budi human” to a new beneficiary, Sofija Stikić, who is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The funds will support her pending stem‑cell transplant at Sant’Orsola Hospital in Bologna.
