Balıkesir City Theatres to premiere ‘Kanlı Nigar’

The Balıkesir City Theatres, a project of the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, will hold its premiere on Monday, September 21, at 20:00 in the Avlu Fatih Salonu. The inaugural production is ‘Kanlı Nigar’, a classic of Turkish theatre written by Sadık Şendil.

Directed by Kubilay Penbeklioğlu, the play will be performed by a permanent cast of 11 artists. The production aims to blend traditional Turkish theatre elements, such as the meddah and orta oyunu traditions, with a contemporary stage approach. This initiative, part of a year-long preparation process, is intended to establish theatre as a central pillar of the city's cultural and social life.
