Balıkesir Fire Department Handles 1,521 Incidents in July 2026

In July 2026 the Balıkesir Fire Department (Balıkesir Büyükşehir Belediyesi İtfaiye Daire Başkanlığı) responded to a total of 1,521 incidents across the province's 20 districts. The breakdown includes 937 fire events, 489 rescue operations, 94 traffic accidents and one flood incident. The department’s actions saved 258 lives and ensured the safety of an additional 289 individuals.

During the month the service also carried out 193 fire‑safety inspections, delivered fire‑prevention training to 379 citizens and provided psychological support to three staff members after the intense operations. The department operates 41 fire stations with 794 personnel and a fleet of 182 vehicles, working in coordination with the General Directorate of Forestry and other agencies to protect residents and property.
