Balıkesir hosts 6th Plant Tissue Culture Course

The Balıkesir Farmer Training Center (BAÇEM), operating under the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, has completed its 6th Plant Tissue Culture Course. The program aimed to enhance knowledge and practical skills in plant biotechnology.

A total of 45 applicants, including 30 women, participated in the training. Attendees traveled from various Turkish provinces, including Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Çanakkale, Düzce, Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Konya, Sakarya, Uşak, and Yalova.

The curriculum covered the historical development and fundamental concepts of plant tissue culture, sterilization, and aseptic working conditions. Participants received instruction on laboratory setup, equipment usage, nutrient media components, and plant growth regulators.

Practical training included seed culture, meristem tip culture, node culture, callus culture, and root culture. The program also featured laboratory and greenhouse applications, specifically focusing on acclimatization processes to prepare plants for external environments.
