Balıkesir Municipality upgrades Edremit Altınkum sewage infrastructure

The Balıkesir Water and Sewerage Administration (BASKİ) has completed a major infrastructure project in the Altınkum neighborhood of Edremit to resolve long-standing sewage issues. The project involved replacing outdated and insufficient sewage network lines with a modern system to increase wastewater capacity.

According to BASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, the upgrades aim to provide permanent solutions to problems that have affected residents for years, such as sewage overflows during heavy rainfall and odor issues caused by aging infrastructure. The initiative is part of a broader effort by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın to modernize infrastructure across the city's 20 districts.
