Balıkesir suspect arrested for insulting fallen soldier and flag

A suspect, identified as M. B. Y., has been arrested in the Gömeç district of Balıkesir for making insulting social media posts regarding a fallen soldier and the Turkish flag.

The investigation was launched following offensive content targeting the memory of Yusuf Sait Ünlü, a 21-year-old contract infantry soldier who was killed in Hakkari's Yüksekova district during a border security mission on October 31.

Following instructions from the Republic Prosecutor's Office, police conducted an operation to apprehend the suspect. After being processed by law enforcement and referred to the courthouse, M. B. Y. was formally arrested by a criminal judge and sent to prison.
