Balıkesir volunteers hold cleanup event following forest fire

Following a forest fire in the Gömeç district of Balıkesir, volunteers organized a cleanup event to promote environmental awareness and protect natural areas. The fire, which broke out in the Kumgedik neighborhood on July 29 and was brought under control by August 1, caused damage to forests and agricultural lands.

Led by actress Zerrin Nişancı, Elif Kaynak, Gülden Karabulak, and Deniz Seçer, approximately 60 volunteers from Bağyüzü, Ayvalık, and Altınova participated in the initiative. The group conducted walks along two different routes, collecting waste that filled two trash collection vehicles. The activity aimed to highlight the importance of forest cleanliness and the protection of nature following the recent fire risks.
