Ball State women's soccer defeats IU Indy 2-0 in season opener

Ball State University women's soccer opened its season with a 2-0 victory over IU Indianapolis at the Briner Sports Complex. The match, which was rescheduled due to heavy rain, saw the Cardinals capitalize on set pieces to secure the win.

Kaelyn Valleau scored the opening goal in the third minute of the match following an assist from Jordyn Klaasen. In the 54th minute, freshman Anna Kate Robillard extended the lead by volleying an IU Indy clearance into the net.

Ball State controlled much of the game, finishing with a 13-6 shot advantage and a 10-2 margin in corner kicks. IU Indy goalkeeper duo Sofia Rodriguez and Isabel Oferosky combined for five saves, but the Jaguars were unable to overcome the deficit. Ball State moves to 1-0, while IU Indy starts the season 0-1.
