Ballaghaderreen avoids relegation in Mayo senior football play-off

Ballaghaderreen secured their position in the Mayo senior football grade for 2027 following a dramatic relegation play-off victory against Balla. The match ended with a score of 1-13 to 0-14.

Andy Moran, an All-Ireland-winning manager, entered the game as a substitute midway through the second half. After contributing two points, Moran executed a quick free that allowed Conor Moriarty to score the decisive goal. This late surge allowed Ballaghaderreen to overcome a five-point deficit and outscore Balla 1-5 to 0-1 in the closing stages of the match.

The victory ensures that Ballaghaderreen maintains its continuous presence in the Mayo senior football championship, a streak dating back to the early 1970s.
