Ballermann Party Scene in Mallorca Generates Millions for Stars, Sparks Local Protests
The Ballermann party strip on Mallorca remains a lucrative hub for German entertainers. Performers such as Pietro Lombardi, Mickie Krause and others reportedly earn up to €15,000 per night, with total annual revenues for the scene estimated at four to five million euros per performer. The trademark owner André Engelhardt, who secured the rights to the "Ballermann" name in 1994, has also built a fortune from the brand.
Despite the high earnings, the island’s residents are protesting the impact of mass tourism. Tens of thousands demonstrated against rising rents, strained resources and the perceived neglect of local welfare, demanding stronger measures to protect the community from the tourism boom.
