Ballet Performances Celebrate Cultural Heritage in Nicaragua and Guatemala

The Ballet Folclórico Macehuatl marked the 47th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution with a gala at Managua’s Teatro Nacional Rubén Darío. Directed by René Jaime, the program combined music, dance and folklore to portray key moments in Nicaraguan history and honored the country’s cultural legacy.

In Guatemala City, the Ballet Nacional “Christa Mertins” staged the classic comic ballet Coppélia at the Centro Cultural Miguel Ángel Asturias. The production, set in an Austrian village, follows the humorous love entanglements surrounding a lifelike doll, and is part of the company’s official season schedule.
