Ballia: Man beaten to death with sticks during assault

A 35-year-old man, identified as Umesh Chaurasia, was killed following an assault with sticks in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Monday evening near the Kaithi (Mathiya) area while Chaurasia was traveling on a motorcycle.

According to police reports, a group of four to six individuals allegedly intercepted Chaurasia and attacked him. Chaurasia sustained severe head injuries during the altercation and was transported to the Ubhaon Community Health Centre, where he died during treatment. Another passenger on the motorcycle sustained minor injuries.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dinesh Kumar Shukla stated that investigators are looking into a possible clash between Chaurasia and youths from a neighboring village. A complaint filed by the deceased's nephew, Chandan, alleges that an individual named Bipin and his associates were involved in the assault. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have collected evidence from the scene, and a police investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
