Bally Bagayoko faces investigation over RATP employment allegations
Bally Bagayoko, the mayor of Saint-Denis, is facing a legal complaint filed with the Parquet national financier (PNF) by the association AC!! Anti-Corruption. The complaint, filed against X, raises allegations including the misappropriation of public funds, fictitious employment, illegal taking of interests, favoritism, and the irregular accumulation of public functions.
The investigation follows reports from Le Canard enchaîné regarding Bagayoko’s professional history with the RATP. The reports suggest that his transition from a municipal employee to a RATP executive in 2000 may have been a strategic move to allow him to run for municipal office. Specifically, it is alleged that his employment at the RATP was facilitated by the intervention of Jacques Marsaud, a former deputy director general of the RATP and former secretary general of Saint-Denis, to resolve his status as a municipal employee which would have otherwise barred his candidacy.
