Balmain unveils Spring 2027 collection inspired by 1970s California

Antonin Tron presented his second collection as Creative Director for Balmain during Paris Fashion Week, focusing on the Spring/Summer 2027 season. The collection draws inspiration from the 1970s California counterculture and desert landscapes, including areas such as Joshua Tree and Death Valley.

Moving away from midcentury silhouettes, Tron utilized archival research to emphasize a more sensual and provocative aesthetic. The runway featured animal prints, glossy fabrics like silk lamé and viscose, and textures including eel skin and snakeskin-print leather. The designs incorporated elements of lingerie, such as garter belts and plunging necklines, alongside the structured pilot jackets that became a staple of his debut.

The show was staged at the Hôtel de Maisons in Paris, a location historically associated with Karl Lagerfeld. The presentation utilized a color palette ranging from ivory and sunset hues to mineral grays, intended to evoke a ‘storm in the desert’ atmosphere.
