Balneário Camboriú's Festa Raízes de Taquaras Celebrates Local Culture

The 7th edition of the Festa Raízes de Taquaras took place in Balneário Camboriú from June 4 to June 7, hosted on the Interpraias roadway near Praia de Taquaras. Organized by the municipal government through the Fundação Cultural and supported by the Associação de Moradores de Taquaras, the free‑entry festival showcased music, traditional cuisine, handcrafted goods and family‑friendly activities.

The event featured a 25% larger covered pavilion measuring 150 meters with 43 stalls, offering a wide range of food such as fried tainha, seafood snacks, bolinho de camarão, pizza, and regional sweets, alongside artisan tents selling clothing, paintings and jewelry. Musical performances ran throughout the day and night, and a live transmission of the Brazil national team’s friendly match against Egypt was shown on Saturday evening.

During the opening ceremony, Mayor Juliana Pavan signed Law 5.276/2026, declaring the festival an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Balneário Camboriú and adding it to the municipal calendar. The director‑president of the Fundação Cultural, Karoen Mello, noted, “The festival is very good and the public has been attending in large numbers, with about a thousand tainhas and barbecues sold.” Traffic on the Rodovia Interpraias between Rua Bougainvillea and Alameda das Acácias was closed and detoured until June 10 to accommodate the event.
