Brazil emergency services respond to fires and landslides
Multiple emergency incidents have been reported across various regions in Brazil, involving fires, landslides, and heavy rainfall.
In Chapecó, a major residential fire resulted in three people sustaining burns, including one man with burns covering 82% of his body. Firefighters used approximately 10,000 liters of water to control the blaze and protect neighboring homes.
In Braço do Norte, intense rainfall triggered a landslide that destroyed a wall and partially demolished a residence. Two homes have been preventively cordoned off due to safety risks, and families have been relocated to shelters.
Other reported incidents include a construction site fire in Balneário Piçarras that caused power outages for 2,300 units, a large fire in Cascavel that destroyed a family home, and a residential fire in Primavera do Leste. Emergency services, including the Military Firefighters Corps and Civil Defense, remain active in monitoring high-risk areas.
