Baloch leader announces plan to rename public sites in Balochistan

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has announced a plan to rename various public locations, roads, and institutions across Balochistan to remove names associated with Pakistan, Britain, and other foreign rule. The initiative aims to promote Baloch history, culture, and national identity following the recent declaration of the so-called ‘Republic of Balochistan’, a claim not recognized by Pakistan or international organizations.

Proposed changes in Quetta and other areas include renaming Jinnah Road to Nawab Mehrab Khan Road, Fatima Jinnah Road to Dost Mohammad Baloch Road, and Iqbal Road to Ghulam Mohammad Baloch Road. Other planned renamings involve the British Hospital, Sir Sanders Airport, and the Pakistan Highway. Mir Yar Baloch stated that the process is intended to restore the region’s historical identity and cultural heritage.
