Balochistan: Government pledges security crackdown and development

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to the development of Balochistan and the eradication of terrorism in the province. During a workshop in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for comprehensive dialogue to resolve regional issues and vowed that the state would not allow militants to destroy the peace of the region.

Security forces have intensified operations against militancy. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that 12 militants were killed in a recent intelligence-based operation in the Kalat district, where a hideout was destroyed and significant amounts of ammunition and improvised explosive devices were recovered.

Parallel to security concerns, Balochistan faces a severe educational crisis. Reports indicate that approximately 2.8 to 3 million children are currently out of school, representing nearly 45 to 50 percent of the school-age population in the province. This systemic failure is attributed to mismanagement and the inactivity of various educational institutions, which hinders the economic potential and skill development of the province's youth.
