Balochistan Home Minister's convoy attacked in Mastung
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau escaped unhurt after his security convoy was targeted in an armed ambush in the Khad Kocha area of Mastung. The attack occurred while the convoy was traveling from Kalat toward Quetta.
Six security personnel sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. The wounded guards were transported to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Hospital in Quetta for medical treatment, with some reported to be in serious condition. Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate the unidentified assailants.
Langau dismissed the incident, stating that such attacks would not weaken the government's resolve. This ambush follows a pattern of rising instability in the region; approximately three weeks prior, a sessions judge and his gunman were killed in a similar attack in Mastung. Data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies indicates that Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain significant hotspots for violence in Pakistan.
