Balochistan shootings kill two men amid militia allegations
Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in the Balochistan districts of Nushki and Kech.
In Nushki, unidentified gunmen opened fire near the Qadirabad Bypass, killing Shah Khalid and injuring Abdul Rauf Barech. Local sources claim Khalid was associated with an armed group allegedly supported by the Pakistani military. Authorities have not provided details regarding the motive or the victims' affiliations.
A second shooting occurred in the Zirdan area of Buleda in the Kech district, where a man identified as Hamid was shot dead by unidentified gunmen. While local sources described Hamid as being associated with a state-backed militia, some residents also alleged he was involved in criminal activities such as theft and targeted killings. These accusations have not been independently verified.
The killings occur amid ongoing allegations from human rights campaigners and nationalist groups regarding the operation of state-linked “death squads” in the region.
