Balsas court sentences three defendants for homicide and attempted murder

In Balsas, Maranhão, the 4th Court of the Judiciary conducted three trial sessions between late August and early September involving homicide and attempted homicide charges. These sessions were presided over by Judge Haniel Sóstenes.

Geilson Silva Pessoa was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the homicide of Francisco Nascimento da Costa. The crime occurred on June 21, 2025, near a commercial establishment. Witnesses identified Pessoa as the individual who shot the victim with a shotgun.

In a separate session on August 27, Jucélio Sinfrônio da Silva received a sentence of 9 years and seven months for the attempted murder of three individuals: Carlos Antônio da Silva Cândido, Felipe Rodrigues de Sousa, and Hudson Pereira da Silva. The incident took place on November 12, 2022, when the defendant allegedly fired three shots from his residence at people passing on a public road.
