Camboriú Reduces Psychology Waitlist by 31% Through Expanded Services

The municipality of Camboriú, through its Secretariat of Health, hired three psychologists in July to evaluate patients on the waiting list for specialized psychological care. Within just over a month, the initiative cut the queue by 30.9%, removing 872 people from the list. The waiting list fell from 2,821 patients (1,528 adults and 1,293 children‑adolescents) to 1,949 (1,085 adults and 864 children‑adolescents). Evaluations were conducted at the Municipal Polyclinic, with 1,168 appointments scheduled; 577 patients attended (49.4%) and 591 missed (50.6%). The triage directs users to the appropriate level of the municipal Psychosocial Care Network, including multiprofessional teams, CAPS, or other health services. The program aims to keep the registry up‑to‑date, prioritize high‑need cases, and improve overall access to mental‑health services in Camboriú.
