Baltic Container Terminal receives record MSC Venice at Gdynia, Poland

Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), the ICTSI‑operated terminal at the Port of Gdynia, handled the inaugural call of MSC Venice, a 399‑metre container ship with a capacity of 16,652 TEU. The vessel is the largest and longest ship ever to dock in the Baltic Sea, demonstrating the terminal’s ability to service ultra‑large container vessels.

The achievement follows a series of infrastructure upgrades, including deepening of the port waters, reconstruction of the Helskie Quay, expansion of Turning Basin No. 2, and the commissioning of new quay cranes and yard equipment at BCT. Port of Gdynia Authority President Piotr Gorzeński called the call a historic moment and a tangible result of recent investments, while BCT CEO Patrick Chan said the arrival validates the work of all stakeholders and reinforces the port’s role as a deep‑water gateway supporting Poland’s economic growth.
