Poland energy sector faces grid modernization and security challenges
Poland's energy sector is undergoing significant structural and technological shifts. Experts emphasize that the national power grid, built during the PRL era, requires urgent modernization to support decentralized renewable energy sources, offshore wind, and nuclear power.
In the offshore sector, the Baltic Power wind farm—a joint venture between Orlen and Northland Power—has begun delivering energy to the grid, though recent readings showed fluctuations in power consumption versus production. Meanwhile, the Ostrołęka power plant project is nearing completion, with 90 percent of work finished and turbine testing expected soon.
Security and regulation also remain critical.
