Baltic Workboats secures 40 million euro contract with Denmark

Saaremaa shipyard Baltic Workboats (BWB) has signed a contract worth approximately 40 million euros with the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO). The agreement involves the construction of five 26-meter search and rescue vessels designed for use in Danish coastal waters, even under extreme weather conditions.

The PATROL 26 WP UltraSAR model features a patented water-penetrating hull and variable pitch propellers. To ensure stability and durability, the vessels are equipped with two completely separate engine rooms and buoyancy chambers filled with water-impermeable buoyancy foam. This design allows the ships to remain operational even if one engine room is compromised.

The new vessels will be utilized by the Danish Coastal Rescue Service, specifically along the west coast of Jutland, where storm waves can reach heights of up to 8 meters. The first vessel is expected to be delivered within 14 months, with all five ships completed within 24 months of the contract signing.
