Baltica 2 offshore wind farm completes monopile installation

PGE and Ørsted have completed a major construction phase for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, successfully installing all 111 monopiles according to schedule. The installation includes 107 foundations for wind turbines and four for offshore electrical substations.

The monopiles are massive structures, reaching up to 100 meters in length, with diameters between 7.5 and 10.5 meters and weights of approximately 1,900 tons each. The project utilized specialized installation vessels, the Svanen and Aeolus from Van Oord, to manage the complex logistics and maritime operations.

Following the foundation installation, work has begun on mounting additional equipment necessary for future operations. The Baltica 2 project is expected to produce its first energy in the first half of next year, with full commercial operation planned for the end of 2027.
