Baltimore Orioles chase AL Wild Card spot amid offensive struggles

The Baltimore Orioles are currently fighting for the final American League Wild Card spot, sitting 2.5 games behind with 31 games remaining in the season. While the team has maintained a strong pitching presence, ranking 7th in the majors in ERA since July 1st, offensive inconsistency has become a primary obstacle to their postseason ambitions.

Recent roster changes, including the trades of Adley Rutschman, Taylor Ward, and Tyler Wells, have shifted the team's dynamic. While the trades brought in seven prospects, the immediate impact on the major league roster is still being evaluated. To secure a playoff berth, the Orioles' offense must improve from its current ranking of 20th in runs per game since July. Key players such as Jackson Holliday are cited as essential to reigniting the lineup to reach the necessary win threshold.
