Baltimore Orioles conduct mass layoffs across business departments
The Baltimore Orioles have conducted a significant round of layoffs affecting employees across various business departments. The cuts reportedly impacted more than two dozen staff members, including roles in ticket sales, graphic design, content production, game presentation, and food and beverage.
Notably, the performers behind the team’s mascot, the Oriole Bird, and the fan-favorite character Mr. Splash were among those let go. While the individuals portraying these characters are leaving, the organization indicated that the mascot characters themselves will remain part of the Camden Yards experience.
In an internal memo, President of Business Operations Catie Griggs described the move as reshaping roles and reporting lines rather than a simple reduction in headcount, noting that the club would continue to recruit for critical roles and areas of need.
