Baltimore Orioles decline Zach Eflin option and sign Rece Hinds
The Baltimore Orioles have declined a $25 million mutual option for right-hander Zach Eflin for the 2027 season. The decision follows Eflin's need for Tommy John surgery after making only one start in 2026. Eflin, who joined the Orioles on a $10 million one-year deal, had a contract that included the mutual option or a $2 million buyout.
In a separate move, the Orioles announced they have signed outfielder Rece Hinds to a contract for 2027. Hinds, who played for Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Miami during the 2026 season, will receive a split contract. The deal pays him $4,700 above the major league minimum while in the majors and $180,000 while playing in the minors.
