Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle out for season with torn oblique
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle suffered a torn oblique while rehabbing from a left‑foot fracture, team president Mike Elias said the injury will likely keep him out for the remainder of the 2026 season. Mountcastle, 29, had appeared in only eight games as the Orioles entered the series at 53‑56, two and a half games behind the AL wild‑card.
Closer Félix Bautista, 31, is progressing in his own rehab after multiple surgeries. He is currently throwing live batting practice at the team complex in Sarasota, Florida, and Elias reported that Bautista appears to be in good shape.
The injuries come as the Orioles chase a playoff spot in the American League.
