Baltimore Orioles lock up reliever Yennier Cano with two‑year extension

Relief pitcher Yennier Cano agreed to a two‑year contract with the Baltimore Orioles covering the 2027 and 2028 seasons, with a $10 million club option for 2029. The deal totals $7.5 million, paying $2.75 million in 2027 and $4.75 million in 2028, and includes escalators based on games finished. Cano, a 32‑year‑old right‑hander from Cuba, entered the agreement with a 2.21 ERA and one save in 48 appearances this season. Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias said Cano has been “outstanding for us both on and off the field” and praised his reliability.

Cano was an All‑Star in 2023 and has been a key part of Baltimore’s bullpen since arriving in 2022. The contract follows a series of recent multi‑year deals by the club, including a five‑year, $90 million extension for starter Kyle Bradish, an eight‑year, $67 million deal for catcher Samuel Basallo, and a five‑year, $68 million contract for pitcher Shane Baz. Owner David Rubenstein has overseen these moves since taking control in 2024.
