Baltimore Orioles place closer Ryan Helsley on injured list

The Baltimore Orioles placed closer Ryan Helsley on the 15‑day injured list with right elbow discomfort, retroactive to Tuesday. Helsley felt the pain while warming up during the eighth inning of the team's 6‑1 win over the Chicago White Sox and did not appear in the game. The pitcher, who signed a two‑year, $28 million free‑agent contract with Baltimore in December, previously spent time on the injured list from May 1 to June 16 for elbow inflammation.

Manager Craig Albernaz said Helsley is "looking at all his options, getting opinions, gathering information." In the same roster move, the Orioles recalled infielder Jeremiah Jackson and right‑hander Anthony Nunez from Triple‑A Norfolk and designated catcher Chadwick Tromp for assignment.
