Baltimore Orioles players approach rehab assignments following injuries
The Baltimore Orioles are preparing for several key players to begin rehabilitation assignments following significant injuries. Reliever Félix Bautista, who has undergone surgery for both a torn labrum and rotator cuff, has progressed to throwing live batting practice. Manager Craig Albernaz noted that while Bautista is trending in the right direction, the team is being cautious given the difficulty of recovering from major arm injuries.
Utility player Blaze Alexander, sidelined since July with a fractured left hand, is also expected to start a rehab assignment within the week. Additionally, catcher Samuel Basallo is currently playing his second rehab game for Double-A Chesapeake to recover from right shoulder inflammation, with a potential return to the major league roster during the current homestand. Reliever Ryan Helsley is also working toward his first bullpen session following elbow discomfort.
