Baltimore Orioles roster impacted by Basallo concussion and Holliday wrist surgery

The Baltimore Orioles have announced significant roster changes due to injuries to two key players. Rookie catcher Samuel Basallo has been placed on the seven-day injured list following a concussion. Basallo sustained the injury after taking a foul tip to his mask during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Outfielder Heston Kjerstad has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to fill Basallo’s spot on the active roster.

Additionally, infielder Jackson Holliday is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left wrist, likely later this week or early next week. Holliday was previously placed on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation, which was later diagnosed as a partial tear in the triangular fibrocartilage complex. The procedure is expected to involve a recovery window of approximately 10 weeks, with the goal of having him back to full strength by the end of the year.
