Baltimore Orioles sign pitcher Jackson Rees amid MLB playoffs

The Baltimore Orioles have signed 32-year-old right-handed pitcher Jackson Rees. Following the announcement, Rees has been assigned to the Norfolk Tides. A former University of Hawaii at Manoa student, Rees previously spent time in the Toronto Blue Jays organization after signing a minor-league contract in 2018.

In unrelated baseball news, the Cincinnati Reds are evaluating their pitching rotation following a season of struggles. Despite high expectations for top-10 draft pick Rhett Lowder, injuries and inconsistent performance from several rotation members, including Hunter Green and Nick Lodolo, have impacted the team's outlook heading into 2027.
