Baltimore parents charged in death of two-month-old daughter

Two parents, Katerin Monzon-Alvarado and Oscar Pineda, have been charged in connection with the death of their two-month-old daughter, Aida, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Medical examinations conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed that the infant suffered multiple skull fractures, bleeding in the frontal lobes, and a subdural hematoma. Doctors at Harbor Hospital noted suspicious bruising around the baby’s eyes and jawline before she passed away.

The parents provided conflicting accounts to authorities. Monzon-Alvarado initially claimed the infant stopped responding after being placed face-down in bed following a feeding, and later suggested their two-year-old son may have caused the injuries by jumping on the bed. During legal proceedings, Pineda reportedly claimed that the child’s injuries were caused by supernatural forces, stating that ‘Satan’ or a supernatural power was responsible for the harm.
