Baltimore Ravens consider kicker competition after Tyler Loop struggles

Baltimore Ravens rookie head coach Jesse Minter has signaled that the team may seek new competition for the kicker position following struggles by second-year player Tyler Loop during the preseason.

Loop missed two field goals during a 41-3 preseason victory against the Washington Commanders, contributing to a preseason kicking performance of 5-of-8 (62.5%). Minter, who had previously defended Loop, noted that the team will continue to evaluate the situation to ensure they have the best possible setup heading into the regular-season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

“You want to see makes in games,” Minter told reporters. “It’s something we’ll continue to look at. We’ll continue to look at what the best situation is there.” The decision comes as the team approaches the roster cut deadline.
