Michael Penix Jr. avoids serious rib injury during Falcons loss to Ravens
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. sustained a rib injury during a 30-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter when Penix was sacked by Ravens linebacker Tavius Robinson. While Penix briefly returned to the field, he did not play in overtime, with Tua Tagovailoa taking over for the final sequence.
Multiple reports indicate the injury is not considered serious. Penix expressed confidence that the issue will not be long-term, and the Falcons plan to monitor his progress in practice this week to determine his availability for the Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears.
The Ravens improved to a 4-1 record with the victory. In the absence of Lamar Jackson, who is managing an ankle injury, quarterback Tyler Huntley led two critical drives in the closing minutes to secure the win. Ravens head coach Jesse Minter praised the team's ability to respond under pressure.
