NFL Rio game sets record for most-watched international matchup

The NFL's regular-season game between the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys at Rio de Janeiro's Maracanã Stadium has set a new record as the most-watched international game in league history. Broadcast on CBS, the matchup averaged approximately 24.9 million viewers, with peak viewership exceeding 30 million during the final moments when Tyler Loop secured a 34-31 victory for the Ravens with a 56-yard field goal.

Beyond the broadcast success, the event had significant local impact in Brazil, with hotel occupancy in Rio reaching 77.9%. The game also highlighted the league's global expansion strategy, significantly outperforming previous international broadcasts.

However, the Ravens faced major setbacks on the field, losing both starting centers to injuries. Jovaughn Gwyn sustained a fractured fibula and is expected to miss two to three months, while Ethan Pocic also suffered a long-term knee injury. In response, the Ravens have begun making roster moves, including signing Andre James and Kyle Hergel to the practice squad to address the depleted offensive line.
