Baltimore Ravens trade for Jacoby Brissett amid quarterback injuries

The Baltimore Ravens are finalizing a trade to acquire veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals. The move follows a series of significant injuries to the Ravens' quarterback room during a Week 8 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Starting quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to undergo surgery for a right thumb injury and will be placed on injured reserve, potentially sidelining him for the remainder of the season. Backup Tyler Huntley also sustained a turf toe injury during the same game and is reportedly out for the season.

With both primary options sidelined, the Ravens have turned to undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, who is expected to make his first NFL start this Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To provide additional depth, Baltimore has also signed Kedon Slovis from the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad and re-added Austin Reed to its own practice squad.

The trade for Brissett, a veteran with eleven NFL seasons of experience, is expected to be completed this weekend. While the deal will not be finalized in time for Thursday night’s game, it aims to provide stability for the Ravens, who currently hold a 4-4 record.
