Balvan residents report noise and dangerous driving near former distillery
Residents of the village of Balvan in the Veliko Tarnovo region have filed a formal complaint with Regional Governor Marin Bogomilov regarding ongoing public order disturbances. The issues center around a former distillery building, which is owned by the Regional Consumer Cooperative (RPK) - Veliko Tarnovo and is currently leased to local residents.
According to the complainants, groups of people regularly gather at the site to consume large quantities of alcohol. These gatherings often occur late at night, after 23:00, and are followed by demonstrative and dangerous driving maneuvers through the village streets. The noise and activities have significantly disrupted the peace of nearby households, including elderly residents and families with young children.
While the local mayor assisted in filing a report with the Ministry of Interior in December 2024, which led to a temporary increase in police presence, residents claim the disturbances have since resumed. The villagers are calling for coordinated action between the Regional Administration, the Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, the RPK, and law enforcement to establish permanent solutions and restore public order.
