Turkey agricultural sector sees regional growth through training and new harvests

Various regional initiatives across Turkey are focusing on enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting local farmers through training, subsidies, and new crop cultivation.

In Efes Selçuk, the Efes Selçuk and İzmir Metropolitan Municipalities organized training for olive producers on pruning techniques and pest control to improve tree health and yield. In Balya, officials participated in the harvest of aronia, a high-antioxidant ‘super fruit’ intended to diversify agricultural products and provide new income sources. In Erzurum, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry conducted field visits and ‘Friday Meetings’ to educate farmers on sustainable production and risk management.

Support programs also include the distribution of 60 tons of barley by the Yeşilyurt Municipality to reduce costs for livestock farmers. Additionally, in Bitlis, the harvest of registered Adilcevaz walnuts has begun, with the province ranking 10th in Turkey for annual walnut production. In İzmit, local authorities successfully converted unused land into a productive pumpkin field, yielding 8 tons of produce.
