Balázs Bús supporters hold prayer meeting in Óbuda

Hundreds of people gathered in Óbuda for a mass and an ecumenical prayer meeting to support Balázs Bús, the former mayor of Óbuda and former vice president of the National Cultural Fund (NKA). The event, titled “Let the good overcome evil,” was organized by the Balázs Bús Friendship Community and CitizenGO to stand up for individuals they describe as being held in custody without judgment.

Bús is currently detained in the Csillag Prison in Szeged. He faces legal proceedings regarding the management of funds at the NKA, involving over 17 billion forints, as well as allegations of accepting 150 million forints in bribes during his tenure as mayor. Bús has denied all wrongdoing, stating that no funds disappeared and claiming he is a “political prisoner.”

The prayer service took place at the main parish church of Saint Peter and Paul, with Fidesz MP and former Minister Balázs Hankó also in attendance.
