Bam Adebayo to miss Miami Heat preseason finale with groin injury
Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo is expected to miss the team’s final preseason game against the Orlando Magic on October 16 due to right groin tightness. Adebayo, who is currently considered day-to-day, also missed a recent exhibition against the Brooklyn Nets. While head coach Erik Spoelstra has expressed that he is not ‘overly concerned’ about the injury, the setback prevents Adebayo from playing alongside new acquisition Giannis Antetokounmpo in the preseason finale.
The injury comes amid significant discussion regarding the Heat’s revamped roster. Following the acquisition of Antetokounmpo and additions like Klay Thompson, LeBron James noted the high potential of the Miami duo, stating, ‘They are going to be incredibly good,’ particularly highlighting their defensive identity and offensive spacing. However, former Heat coach Stan Van Gundy offered a more critical view, suggesting Adebayo is ‘a little overrated, particularly at the offensive end of the floor,’ and questioning if the new roster balance will allow Miami to compete with the Eastern Conference’s elite.
