BAM Back to the City Concert 2026 focuses on accessibility
The 2026 edition of the BAM Back to the City Concert, organized by Fondazione Riccardo Catella, will focus on accessibility and inclusion under the theme ‘Čajkovskij senza barriere’ (Tchaikovsky without barriers). The event is designed to allow people with motor, sensory, and cognitive disabilities to participate fully in the musical experience.
Starting September 6, 2026, a series of seven preparatory activities will take place across six Milanese neighborhoods, including Portanuova, Dergano, Affori, Comasina, Ghisolfa, and Washington. These activities include workshops such as ‘Il corpo della musica’, which uses vibrating platforms to help participants explore music through physical sensation.
The program culminates in a free open-air concert on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 8:00 PM on the lawns of BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano. The international ensemble Spira mirabilis will perform selections from Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Sleeping Beauty’. To ensure accessibility, the event will provide dedicated entrance areas, specialized acoustics, and vibrating backpacks for deaf attendees.
