BAM leaves training decision to Lee Zii Jia following recent losses

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has stated that the decision to return to training at the Malaysian Badminton Academy (ABM) rests entirely with professional singles player Lee Zii Jia. BAM President Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz noted that while the association has not initiated a meeting to discuss this, the doors remain open for all professional players to utilize ABM facilities for national interest.

This follows comments from badminton legend Lee Chong Wei, who expressed concern over Lee Zii Jia’s recent performance struggles. Lee Chong Wei suggested that a more structured training environment and stronger sparring partners could help the player rediscover his form.

Lee Zii Jia, currently ranked world No. 58, recently faced a setback at the Vietnam Open in Ho Chi Minh City, where he was eliminated in the second round by Wu Zhe Ying of Chinese Taipei. The loss occurred during a tournament Lee entered specifically to rebuild his competitive rhythm and confidence.
