Bamako 2026 Sports Biennale promotes citizenship through traditional values

The Bamako 2026 Sports Biennale is incorporating cultural education into its programming to promote citizenship through traditional values. As part of the event held from August 7 to 16, 2026, the Danbé Kolosibaw organized a session at École Jean Richard focused on Malian traditional landmarks.

Led by Dr. Fodé Moussa Sidibé and representatives from the Ministry of Handicrafts, Culture, Hotel Industry, and Tourism, the discussion engaged youth in exploring how inherited traditions can shape responsible citizenship. Key concepts discussed included ‘Maaya’ (humanism), ‘Danbé’ (dignity), respect for elders, and ‘cousinage à plaisanterie’ (joking kinship). The session also highlighted the ‘N’Domo’ as a traditional framework for education and the transmission of social behaviors.
