Bamberg celebrates E.T.A. Hoffmann with museum reading and school science project

The Historisches Museum Bamberg will stage a concertante reading of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s short novel “Haimatochare” on 30 July 2026 at 17:00. Actors Stephan Bach and Andreas Ulich will perform the adventure of two naturalists, with musical accompaniment by Maximilian Blumenfelder. Tickets cost €15 and are sold at the museum box office.

At the same time, the E.T.A. Hoffmann‑Gymnasium in Bamberg highlights its chemistry curriculum by having students construct their own batteries. The project demonstrates how metal combinations generate electrical voltage, linking school science work to everyday battery technology.

Both activities are part of the city’s broader commemoration of the writer E.T.A. Hoffmann, who was born in Bamberg and remains a cultural figure in the region.
